MarkZ suggested a Knockout Stage where the top three teams from each group would compete in a double-elimination bracket following the redesigned Group Stage. Because of this, the top two teams in each group would advance to the next round, while the four teams who finished third would play in the consolation bracket.
He also noted that, with six games every day, the new structure would only take around 10 days, compared to the 14 days required for the conventional Play-Ins and Group Stage.
Why do we spend so much time at tournaments on something that is not the most exciting part? However, there are still significant issues with regard to regional distribution and audience size.
